I'm pretty sure I saw a brand of soda (or as it's called here pop) named:
Hillbilly Holler or maybe it was Holla.
Why I don't have my camera on me for moments like this is beyond me.
I saw it on the shelf, I think it's a store brand at Fareway. Not to be confused with Fairway,
which is apparently a trendy East coast chain. (I just read a whole NY'er article about different
upscale supermarket chains). The one here is more like an aldi's/economical type chain. Nothing wrong with that. I like to compare the best prices for avocados across the lines... except sometimes those "bargain" ones, even though they seem like a great deal, take about 4 weeks to ripen..hmm

sp. part ii, etc.
Shoeless guy wore shoes to class on Friday. Maybe it was for the exam? Or maybe it was because it was raining. Don't know. They were those slip-on type slides/sandal things. He has pretty gnarly toes, I gotta say.
Also, the little bunny in our yard is super cute and loves to eat dandelions.
And finally, if you go to the Resource Recovery Plant to dispose of your garbage thru the county
(and not pay stupid prices for private garbage pick-up), be prepared for the stench. It is
overpowering.
And be depressed by some of the stuff people throw out.
Sad. And Smelly.

Good things, bad things about small town life:
Good thing:
Our extremely friendly & conscientious mail carrier. He brings packages up to our apartment.
He's very pleasant. He just handed me some stuff and said he will be back, because he has a large package in his truck that he'll need to come back for. He said it's like 2 feet tall. I have no idea what this is. Could it be that robot I wished for? The bathroom scrubbing, coffee-making one?
That would be nice.
In contrast the Fed Ex person came up the stairs and didn't even knock on the door and just left some package outside the door!
Bad thing:
Excessive hyper-interest/absorption in college football. Seriously. I thought people couldn't take football MORE seriously or passionately than Pgh'ers and yet I was wrong.

randonmess
Maybe it's the country air or who knows what, but today a woman at the bus stop asked me if I was going to Ames High School. Um, what??!?? I had no idea I could still pass for 18 years old.
She seemed very surprised to find out I was headed to the university and was in fact, almost 35 years old. Who knows...maybe it's the hat, maybe it's the country air we've been breathing.
Also there are a lot of advertisements with people holding signs here. It's strange. Downtown there is a guy who advertises for an insurance company wearing a statue of Liberty costume- trust me, he looks like he pretty much hates his life. Oh right, it's for Liberty Mutual. Well sorry to rip on them but their advertising strategy is pretty bad, that guy looks like he wants to punch things. Granted a lot of the time he's been out there with his sign it's like 20 degrees out and stuff...Not really ideal conditions. Also there was a young guy advertising for little caeser's pizza...who knew they even still existed...
Okay I swear there was a point to all this. Um it's sort of spring here... not really but snow has actually melted and you can see grass again. You can now also see all the spots/layers where my lame neighbors let their dogs go and didn't pick up after them! Yay, good times...
