That is usually what happens, right?
Last night we're driving down our road, and about a mile down the road from the house slow to a yellow light, turning red. There is one car in front of us. The light turns green.
The guy in the car in front of us opens the door and gets out of his car. Which is a little weird but there's really no one else on the road. I figure he's going to get something out of the back or trunk. But he continues to walk back to our car and stops, and Cory lowers the window.
And the guys asks if we own the house for rent -- seriously this is already 1 mile down the road! We telll him to contact the company=- their name/number is on the sign-and the guy waddles back to his car and gets in.
REALLY? For real? That is creepy and weird. First, he was AHEAD of us, so how did he even know to stop and ask us? Second, really? You stop your car at the GREEN light, risk causing an accident, to get out and ask about a house for rent? For real? You couldn't go back and stop your car and take down the number?!?
WEIRD. This is probably one of the weirdest things to happen (in Ames).

Still cold, though logic tells me I shouldn't be, it's actually warmer outside. Saw some sort of

Granny's secret Kool aid habit and free food for me?
On Saturday at the hy-vee- Yes, this IS where many odd and interesting things happen...got in line behind this granny who was buying about $50 worth of Kool aid, all in individual little packets. Who knows why...Unfortunately the cashier was ringing up each one individually, although I'm sure there is some way to ring up multiples of the same flavor at once. That's one of those times you get in line thinking the person before you only has a few items and it will be quicker than scanning all the items yourself. Whoops. I think the packets were on some mega-sale, b/c they looked to be about 12 cents each, although I have no idea how much Kool aid is normally. She spent quite a bit of money on her total purchase though, and a lot of that on the kool aid....
Before when i stopped to buy a bagel, the guy working there gave it to me for free! I'd like to say it was due to my incredible charm or nice smile but I think he was just disgruntled, since he said, just take it, I don't feel like taking my gloves off to ring you up. But free bagel for me, so it's win-win.

freezing mist turns to freezing rain
Well, that is fun. Now the odd freezing mist turned to freezing rain and FROZEN sheets on the sidewalks and parking lots. Goody!
Here are some odd things I observed:
Today on the bus, a guy boarded the bus wearing SANDALS (I'm not even kidding)
Did he not see the above memo? It's cold (though slightly warmer than previous days) and the ground is a mess of ice, slush, and snowy-slush puddles.
Weird. Another young man got on the bus with no coat, nor gloves or hat. Apparently these people are under the delusion that they are not in the Midwest in the middle of winter???
Also this has nothing to do with it, but note to girl sitting next to me, listening to her i-pod:
If your music is loud enough such that I can distinctly make out what song you're listening to ("Rebel Rebel"), I think you MAY be listening too loudly.
Seriously...

" Hey,it's a beautiful day...
... a good day not to get run over" *
Said the guy on a bike, at the corner of Kellogg and Lincoln Way, going into the Mister Money;
http://www.mistermoney.com/
He was wearing a camo backpack and hiking boots, which makes me wonder how practical those are for bike riding. Wouldn't think those would be the most well-suited for biking.
People like this ALWAYS talk to me.
